How our Courses Work
Each of our courses is based on video teachings made specifically for online learning by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. Each lesson will usually include a video of about an hour by Tenzin Rinpoche, a reading assignment from a related book, a meditation assignment according to a supplied meditation guide, and a journaling assignment describing the results of practice. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the class through a discussion board, sharing experiences, questions and insights. Members of the class can get to know one another through their profiles and class discussions.
The number and frequency of lessons is determined by the topic of the course and the meditations involved. Courses will typically include around six lessons, and new lessons will be provided each week. However learners can proceed at their own pace through the materials and exercises if they wish, with support of their mentor.
Each course is facilitated by a senior western born mentor. Our mentors have twenty or more years of meditation experience, and have completed extensive training with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima, Khempo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche, Ponlob Tinley Nyima Rinpoche, and other senior lamas of our lineage. Our mentors also have access to Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche if unusually challenging questions arise in the course. Learn more about our mentors.
The mentors encourage and support the members of each class through discussion, posing insightful questions, and comments on practice journals. Our goal is to not only actively support learners, but to also become spiritual friends, and support the growth of community through our online presence.
